An Herbal Bath Soak & Body Scrub for Softness and Stillness

There are evenings when the body speaks before the mind can catch up—when everything feels a little too tight, too tired, too much. That’s when I turn to water. To salts and oils. To scent and slowness. There is something deeply grounding about washing away the day with intention, not just soap.

Below are two of my favorite rituals: a calming Herbal Bath Soak to quiet the nervous system, and a deeply softening Body Scrub that leaves skin glowing and spirit soothed.

These aren’t beauty recipes. They’re offerings. Tiny acts of care. A way of saying: I’m still here, and I deserve softness.

🌿 Calming Herbal Bath Soak

A simple, soul-settling blend that eases tension, calms the senses, and invites rest. Let it steep in your tub like a tea for the body.

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Epsom salt

  • ½ cup dried lavender buds

  • 10 drops lavender essential oil

  • 5 drops chamomile essential oil (or frankincense for deeper grounding)

  • Optional: ¼ cup baking soda for extra softening

  • Muslin sachet or cheesecloth (to hold herbs and avoid messy cleanup)

To Make:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine Epsom salt, dried lavender, and baking soda if using.

  2. Add essential oils drop by drop, mixing gently to distribute the scent throughout.

  3. Spoon the mixture into a jar or directly into a sachet.

To Use:

Toss a handful into a warm bath, or place the filled sachet under running water. Sink in. Breathe deeply. Let the scent hold you like a lullaby.

✨ Silkening Body Scrub

This scrub polishes the skin, boosts circulation, and leaves you with a velvety glow. It’s gentle but invigorating, earthy and indulgent all at once.

Ingredients (makes ~1 cup):

  • ¼ cup fine sea salt

  • ¼ cup organic cane sugar

  • 2 tbsp sweet almond oil (or jojoba, sunflower, or even olive oil)

  • 1 tbsp liquid castile soap or baby body wash (for gentle rinseability)

  • 6 drops geranium essential oil

  • 4 drops grapefruit or sweet orange essential oil

To Make:

  1. In a bowl, combine sea salt and sugar.

  2. Slowly add oil and mix until it reaches a wet sand consistency—add more if needed.

  3. Stir in your soap and essential oils.

  4. Store in a glass jar with a tight lid. Use within 2–3 weeks.

To Use:

Scoop a small amount onto damp skin, gently massage in circles (especially around shoulders, arms, and legs), and rinse thoroughly. The soap helps it wash off clean, while the oils stay behind to nourish.

🌙 A Final Thought

Rituals like these aren’t about being fancy or perfect. They’re about creating a pocket of peace—an exhale in the middle of life’s noise. Let these recipes be your reminder: tending to yourself is not an afterthought. It is the work of someone returning home to their body.

"You are not a machine. You are a garden. Tend to yourself accordingly."

Here’s to slower days and handmade things,
